Month covers? What is it?

It really is just that, 12 illustrated covers for each month for those who use their own organizers or just notebooks for time organization and/or memory keeping. Often times people who do bullet journaling or any other type of time management in their own notebooks are artsy and create lovely spreads and covers. I love looking at them, so I have a growing collection of examples of that on my Pinterest so check them out, they are amazing.

Not everyone can or want to draw them, and that’s ok too. But some of those people still want to have pretty pages and here comes my set of month covers 🖤 they’re easy to print out and put into your notebook of choice. Today I’m sharing how I use them.

You can use them in your real/physical calendar or journal (or any other place you'd want a month cover) AND you can use them in your digital organizer as well. As long as importing a png or pdf is possible, you absolutely can! I do that in my GoodNotes and Notify. Yes I am an organizer/journal nerd 🙂

How the month covers look?

Well, I drew them all by hand of course, no AI or premade graphics were used in the process at ANY point. Obviously it’s full of skulls and florals cause that’s just what I love to draw and look at. All months have some theme going, usually corresponding with the vibe of the specific month.

The package comes with 3 sets of the month covers:

1. A set of 12 covers in A5 size as PDF file. There’s 2 covers on each page, ready to print out at great quality.
2. A set of 12 covers in A4 size as PDF file. It’s 1 cover on each page, also ready to print out.
3. A set of 12 covers as illustrations with transparent background as PNG files. Each illustration is a separate file.

That gives you a lot of possibilities, you can still adjust the size to your needs on your device. How? It depends on the software you’re using but usually you can change the size in the printing window.

Bonus tip: if you don’t like playing with glue you can print them on sticker paper

How to edit the covers?

What else you can do with them? You can color them however you like!

Now, you can do it traditionally, for that you need to print them first and then have a go at coloring them with any medium you like (just keep in mind it’s only a print and may have some limitations depending on what type of printer it was printed on).

Or you can do it digitally, for this use the PNG files in any drawing software you like using. It can be any drawing app that will let you upload a png file in and color below that layer. That’s why they have transparent backgrounds so it’s only a lineart for easy coloring. I personally like using Procreate app for it, but also Affinity or Fresco. Last 2 are free too! There's other software too (I often hear about Studio Clip or Krita), I know they will also let you do that but I have no experience with them.

End results

The end result of using the month covers can differ a lot but it fully depends on your preference.

You can totally use them as they are, and I know it’s not very humble of me to say it but I think they look great straight out of the digital box 😉 I’ve poured a lot of soul and thought into them and I really like how they came out. The black and white aesthetic is also close to my heart, peaceful and elegant.

At the same time I totally understand the need and want to customize them with color and your style. And you can totally do that with my set. Traditionally or digitally - customize them as you wish.
